Julia stapleton

Julia works with earthenware clay making pieces from slabs. This is clay rolled out evenly in between wooden slats, cut into sections, left to go leather hard and constructed by joining the sections together with slip (liquid clay).

Each piece is fired twice. After the first firing it is painted with under glaze colours and glazes then fired again to a temperature of 1050 degrees centigrade.
