JACKIE HARROP

Jackie's interest in pottery began as a teenager during visits to St Ives and was rekindled through regular visits to Japan and France where she was able to restart throwing and sculpting. This led to building small studios in France and St Albans where she works mainly with earthenware clays and glazes, with occasional forays into porcelain and crank.

She enjoys throwing mugs, jugs and making rustic teapots but has also developed a passion for figurative work. Jackie has recently tried combining throwing and altering to create torsos, backs and intertwined forms.

Jackie has also experimented with salt firing, wood firing and smoke firing. She loves the drama and magic of raku. Her current work uses a range of commercial glazes with occasional screen printed decoration, as the mood takes her
