Alex Le Carpentier

alex le carpentier

Alex started his career learning Graphics and Illustration (with some photography thrown in) at the Sir John  Cass School of Art in Whitechapel.

After completing his diploma he went into pen and ink drawings on a freelance basis whilst working evening shifts as a stage hand at the Victoria Theatre in London.

Alex also sold caricatures to magazines but as that was not successful he gave up art and began working as a film projectionist among other things to earn a living.

Alex then went back to college to study etching at St Albans to enhance his skills.

He also discovered encaustic art and how to paint using waxes and a hot iron, going on to become a tutor in this medium.

Alex now combines all his skills to produce work that he calls 'fantasy paintings'
